Malignant Melanoma brought down John J. Hooker, J.D. of Nashville, Tennessee.

We don’t know if it started in his feet but as you can see in the illustration, signs of this malignancy can first appear in the feet. If ignored, they can metastasize or spread to other areas of the body. Gastrointestinal/Colon cancer and Renal cancer are the number one and two areas respectively where this killer lesion can spread to.

Because the early stages of malignant melanoma can be found in the foot. It is important to have a quick diagnosis and aggressive treatment plan for removal to prevent spreading.

Think it’s nothing because it doesn’t hurt? Nope, skin cancers are usually painless. If it has rapid growth as well, it is probably malignant.

These lesions can also ulcerate too. So if your ulceration does not heal in 2 months, it should be biopsied for a specific diagnosis. If it is a melanoma, it requires an aggressive excision, sometimes even partial amputation of the area.

Have a suspicious lesion? Don’t ignore it, get it checked out, it just may save your life.
